Not My Will
"He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed, saying, 'Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from me; nevertheless, not my will, but Yours be done.'”

“Sometimes we are so busy telling God our will that we forget to surrender to His will.”
There are two crucial lessons in this passage. (1) It’s not wrong to let God know our desires in prayer. The scriptures continually instruct us to bring concerns to the Lord in prayer. (2) Even in difficult times, we must focus our attention on the one who has the answer. Sometimes we are so busy telling God our will that we forget to surrender to His will.
We tend to think about what we want, about what “we believe” is best for us or the ones we love. All too often, our prayers are focused on telling God how to do his job. The next time you need to bring a concern to the Father, have no hesitation about making your request known; Oh, how He desires to hear from us. But, more importantly....we need to know His will.
Prayer
Father, there are times when we seem to face difficulties on every side of this world. Thank you that when we seek your will, you always hear and answer our petition. Help us to always walk in this truth. In the name of Christ our Savior. Amen.
